3. A challenge to some of the myths on those mythical artefacts |
g) Possibly the objects found at the bottom of the pit were a foundation offering
The tablets and Milady Tărtăria were found near a large pit-house. The limited area of the excavations doesn't allow for a complete inference of its architecture but the profile shows a complex of great size with a diameter of 5 meters on top. Could we interpret the pit as the result of an offer performed in the ritual of laying the foundation for a building? In this case it might be a foundation offering like that in Platia Magoula Zarkou (Thessaly, Greece), connected to ancestor worship.
